From carlsonj at workingcode.com Sat Mar 1 17:46:36 2025 From: carlsonj at workingcode.com (James Carlson) Date: Sat, 1 Mar 2025 17:46:36 -0500 Subject: EAA IMC Club Nashua Chapter Meeting March 9th and 12th. Message-ID: *** NOTE BELOW: There's homework! Please come prepared with a flight plan from ASH to LKP (and return) using weather from March 5th. Next month's meeting will be April 9th. Please let me know of any conflicts. Our first virtual IMC Club meeting was April 8th, 2020. In the past five years, I've run 59 extra meetings, with this one being the 60th. I think that may be enough. Many other chapters have stopped virtual meetings, but there are a several left (search at faasafety.gov for "imc"). For instance, a virtual IMC Club meeting run from San Diego is conveniently timed for many East Coast attendees (9:30PM Eastern). Here's the link for their next meeting on March 12th: https://www.faasafety.gov/SPANS/event_details.aspx?eid=135135 Also, I'd be happy to help anyone who wants to set up a new club meeting (virtual or otherwise). April's meeting will be in person at the Nashua Airport. The last virtual IMC Club meeting will be held on Sunday, March 9th, at 6:30PM EDT (2230Z) via Zoom: https://zoom.us/j/3577949883?pwd=aURNaEt6bjVoZWp1LzBFTklkQitNUT09 Without that link, it's meeting ID 357 794 9883 and passcode "5hSjnY" (without the quotes). The in-person meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, March 12th, at 1830L (6:30PM EDT) at the Nashua Airport, 93 Perimeter Road, Nashua NH 03063: https://goo.gl/maps/GiC2DsYdULDLVpzU8 Please do not attend the in-person meeting if you feel ill. Items tentatively planned for March's meeting: - Pilot Workshop Scenario (Mammoth Winds West of Macon) - Flight planning exercise (ASH to LKP) - (Planning supplemental materials) - Insert your item here (suggestions wanted) I'll have the Zoom meeting open at 6PM for those who want to chat or test equipment, and the meeting starts at 6:30PM EDT. On Wednesday, I'll be there by 6PM to open the room, but the real meeting begins at 6:30PM with this month's scenario. After the scenario, we'll go into the flight planning exercise. The exercise is to plan a flight from Nashua (ASH) to Lake Placid (LKP) using weather on March 5th, 2025. Before the meeting, plan out this flight to depart in the morning and return in afternoon or evening. Be prepared to talk about route, timing, and concerns. Would you make the trip? What resources did you use? We'll go around the room and discuss the plan, so be prepared to contribute. If you wish, you can sign up for WINGS credit for the Wednesday in-person meeting here: https://www.faasafety.gov/SPANS/event_details.aspx?eid=135559 And for the Sunday virtual meeting here: https://www.workingcode.com/imc-club/wings-signup.html For those who don't sign up in advance, there will also be a link provided in the meeting for WINGS credit. If you use a different name in your Zoom account, please include it with your registration or let me know during the meeting. If you normally do your final trip planning the day before departure, then this is a reminder to do that tonight. The trip plan is a visit to Lake Placid (ASH to LKP). Do your planning as you usually do for a personal trip. Assume whatever aircraft you have available and can fly. Assume your schedule is as flexible as you'd normally make it for a one day vacation. There are no deadlines or hard requirements, but assume you'd wanted to make this trip some time in the morning and return in the afternoon or evening. There are no constraints, other than being able to describe the planning process. You can select the exact time or conditions or equipment you want. You can select the altitude and route. You can go VFR, IFR, or not at all. You can take a friend or instructor to go right-seat. We'll go through each plan in turn to see where we might have different ideas. -- James Carlson 42.703N 71.076W FN42lq08 From carlsonj at workingcode.com Sun Mar 9 12:14:59 2025 From: carlsonj at workingcode.com (James Carlson) Date: Sun, 9 Mar 2025 12:14:59 -0400 Subject: EAA IMC Club Nashua Chapter Virtual Meeting TONIGHT and In-Person March 12th Message-ID: <3f7579f9-c01b-46a5-991d-5c568c064e81@workingcode.com> *** NOTE BELOW: There's homework!
